Classes and Workshops
Allison Watson has taught painting since she was in her late twenties starting at the Jacksonville Museum of Art. She presently is teaching at The Cummer museum of Art and Gardens and at Reddi Arts, and gives workshop and private lessons at her studio.

Regular Classes
These six-week classes are designed for the beginning or the advanced painter. The classes usually address impressionism and realism and the student may work on landscape or still life work. There are demonstrations in every class and each student receives personal attention. Each student will complete a finished work.

There will be a comparative analysis and discussions of well known artists work. Students will paint landscapes or still life, etc. and will complete one or more painting per session. The sessions usually are six weeks long.


Private Classes
Allison Watson offers private classes for one to three students at her Jacksonville studio. Acrylic paint is included along with miscellaneous supplies and surfaces. Students may bring oil paint if they prefer oils or use their own supplies. There is a two-hour minimum and the cost is $45 for one student, $35 per hour, per student for two student and $25 per hour per student for three.

Workshops and Demonstrations

Basic Painting - Syllabus

These classes are for the beginning or intermediate painter. Each student will have individual attention and will complete one or more paintings. There will be demonstrations in every class.

Class # 1
Introduction, discussion of supplies and introduction to color, painting demonstration and one finished painting will be completed.

Class # 2
Discussion of surfaces with demonstrations on the preparation various canvases, ridged and flexible surfaces, etc.

Class # 3
References, inspirations and a discussion of painting techniques and composition. Also comparison of several artists work.

Class # 4
Watercolor media, painting technique on paper demonstrated

Class # 5
Demonstration using a variety of water based paints and mixed media painting demonstration.

Class # 6
Review, finishing and framing.
