"Small Wonders Workshop - Painting Miniature Masterpiece"
Students will have a chance to create several small works on canvas or paper. Much can be learned by painting several small works, rather than one or two larger paintings. Students may chose to paint landscapes or still life paintings. Refferance material will be provided. Paintings will be approximately 6x6, 8x6, 4x14, 12x6, etc. There will be several demonstrations and every artist will have personal attention and will complete several paintings. Color, composition and techniques will be addressed.


"Landscape Workshop - Introduction to the World of Landscapes"
This workshop is designed to give an over all view of landscape painting and will cover the basics: color, techniques, composition and values. There will be several demonstrations and every student will complete one or more original impressionistic or realistic painting on canvas, panel or paper. Reference material will be provided. Students may paint on canvas or paper using acrylic paint.


"Color Workshop - Mixing, Theory, Values"
A new in depth look at the color wheel - the power and mystery of color will be explored. This workshop will cover color theory, mixing, color harmony, value, relationships of one color to another, dark and light, dull and vivid, aggressive and recessive color, cool and warm. Each student complete a painting using a color plan designed for his or her individual work.


"Six-week Course in Basic Painting"
These classes are designed for the beginning or more experienced painter. Six three-hour classes are offered. Color, techniques, composition and surfaces will be covered. There will be discussions of other artist's work as well as demonstrations of different techniques on several surfaces. Every student will work at their own level and will receive individual attention. Every student will complete one or more painting.

Cost to the student: $190
Minimum of 4, Maximum of 12
Supplies not included. A supply list is available. Supplies may be provided for an extra charge if arrangements are made one week ahead. Additional charge may be added for travel out of the north Florida area.


Six Week Classes also Available

A six-week acrylic painting course is available. Each class is three hours or more and held one day a week. The class is designed to cover painting basics and is for students of all levels from beginning to advance. Every student will receive individual attention and will complete one or more painting. Classes are available at the Cummer Museum of Art and at Reddi Arts. Please contact the Museum and Reddi Arts for schedule and prices. Ms Watson is available to teach in other locations statewide. Classes - Basic Painting

These classes are for the beginning or intermediate painter. Each student will have individual attention and will complete one or more paintings and will paint at their own level. There will be demonstrations in every class. Ms Watson has taught painting classes for 25 years and is presently on the teaching staff of the Cummer Museum of Art.

Class # 1
Introduction, discussion of supplies and introduction to color, painting demonstration and one finished painting will be completed. Students will have experience mixing color and will be introduced to practical applications of color .

Class # 2
Discussion of surfaces with demonstrations on the preparation various canvases, ridged and flexible, paper, panel, etc.

Class # 3
References, inspirations and a discussion of painting techniques and composition. Also comparison of several artists' work and how an artist can learn from other accomplished painters.

Class # 4
Watercolor painting technique using acrylic and watercolor paint on paper demonstrated.

Class # 5
Demonstration using a variety of water based paints and mixed media painting demonstration.

Class # 6
Review, finishing and framing.


Regular Classes

These six-week classes are designed for the beginning or the advanced painter. The classes usually address impressionism and realism and the student may work on landscape or still life work. There are demonstrations in every class and each student receives personal attention. Each student will complete a finished work.

There will be a comparative analysis and discussions of well known artists work. Students will paint landscapes or still life, etc. and will complete one or more painting per session. The sessions usually are six weeks long.


Private Classes
Allison Watson offers private classes for one to three students at her Jacksonville studio. Acrylic paint is included along with miscellaneous supplies and surfaces. Students may bring oil paint if they prefer oils or use their own supplies. There is a two
-hour minimum and the cost is $45 for one student, $35 per hour, per student for two student and $25 per hour per student for three.
